Arlington Heights Fire Department responded to a report about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday of a fire in the basement of an apartment building in the 2400 block of East Brandbenberry Court. Residents called to report smoke in the building and a residential fire alarm alerted the fire department of a fire. First firefighters on the scene reported heavy smoke on the first floor. Firefighters made their way to the basement to find a fiberglass barrel on fire in the basement of the building. The fire was quickly extinguished. Residents were evacuated, but no residents were displaced.
