Elgin police responded to a report just after 2:00 a.m. Thursday of a man shot in the 700 block of West Adams Street. The man was found unresponsive on the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead by the Kane County Coroner’s Office.
A woman was taken into custody Thursday from the 200 block of Dexter Avenue.
Heavily-armed police also searched a house Thursday in the area of Cooper Avenue and St. John Street.
Elgin police are investigating, and asked anyone with information to call the police at 847-289-2600.
