Brooklyn iPhone Theft: Apple Sends Replacement iPhone to Thief, Refuses Victim

#ad▼

A Brooklyn subway passenger was a victim of a robbery about two weeks ago. Her iPhone was taken from her, and weeks later the robber asked Apple, Inc. for a replacement iPhone under AppleCare, a warranty plan. A notification e-mail was sent by Apple to the victim’s registered e-mail address.

So far Apple and AT&T have stated they must fulfill the offender’s warranty claim. A long conversation with a police officer with an Apple representative has failed to change the response from Apple and AT&T.

The female victim of the robbery has since bought a BlackBerry.

The CTA system in Chicago has seen its share of iPhone robberies, and car burglaries in across Chicagoland frequently involve loss of iPhones.
