Washout Collapses Tree, Hits Gas Meter

#ad▼

Heavy rains washed away mud near the excavation for a foundation of a

teardown/new construction site in the 900 block of Fernandez Sunday

evening. The resulting washout and high winds possibly caused a tree to

fall into the excavation, across the construction lot, and onto a gas

meter of an adjacent home. The gas meter was ripped from the wall and

washed into the excavation, causing a natural gas leak. Arlington

Heights Fire Department, Public Works, Nicor and the general contractor

responded to fix the leak and manage any further erosion to adjacent

properties.
