#ad▼

Prospect Heights Fire Department fought an extra alarm fire at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday for an attached garage fire. Firefighters arrived on the scene to find heavy fire coming out the front door of an open garage door with a car fully involved with fire inside the garage. The fire was stopped within about 20 minutes, but expensive damage occurred.

Fire departments that assisted Prospect Heights included Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Des Plaines, Elk Grove Township, Glenview, Long Grove, Mount Prospect, Palatine Rural and Wheeling.

Three tankers responded to the scene: one from Prospect Heights, one from Long Grove and one from Palatine Rural.

Hintz Road was closed temporarily in the area because of hose lines running to fire hydrants across the road. Southbound Schoenbeck closed for an extended time.
