Schaumburg Police Activity for Shots Fired, Golf Road Blocked

UPDATE: A male was taken into custody just before 6:15 p.m. in the 1900 block of Evening Song Court. A standoff ended peacefully after a report of at least one gunshot was heard and police understood they had a standoff situation at about 3:30 pm. Thursday. Golf Road was opened to traffic in both directions at 6:15 p.m.

Schaumburg Police Department called for mutual aid from area police departments — an ILEAS alarm — for a report of shots fired in the area of Evening Song Court and Windsong Drive. The neighborhood is directly across Golf Road from Poplar Creek Village and Brighton Gardens Hoffman Estates, just south of Poplar Creek Country Club. People at Poplar Creek Village and Brighton Gardens are being kept from standing in front of the buildings.

In Schaumburg, Golf Road between Walnut and Knollwood was blocked eastbound and westbound.

Police also kept a wide perimeter — limiting pedestrians from getting near the area where stray bullets or police movement could be dangerous.

NIPAS — Northern Illinois Police Alarm System — a SWAT Team assembled on both sides of a residential unit in the neighborhood.

ILEAS is the acronym for the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System.

Arlington Heights Police Department and other area police departments provided mutual aid for this incident.
