H1N1 Swine Flu Vaccinations Available for High Risk Arlington Heights Residents Saturday

H1N1 flu shots will available on Saturday for high-risk Arlington Heights residents. High-risk residents are defined as those between the ages of 4-24; caregivers of infants under 6 months old; pregnant women; health care providers and adults 25-64 who have health conditions associated with a higher risk of medical complications from influenza. Proof of Arlington Heights residency is required; and a parent must accompany children under 18 years of age. Health care providers must present health employment identification.

Appointments will be taken at (847) 253-9661 after 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009.

The H1N1 vaccination shots will be given from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009 in the Health Department at Village Hall, 33 S. Arlington Heights Road.

The supply of the H1N1 vaccine is very limited and is approved only for people age 4 and older, according to an annoincement by Village of Arlington Heights officials.

The H1N1 vaccine will be given in accordance with the guidelines established by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Schools in the 60004 and 60005 zip codes are a priority on the list of the Cook County Department of Public Health for general vaccinations of children when H1N1 flu vaccines are available. Although no date has been annnounced, residents and officials are hoping for dates by mid- to late-November.
