Greek Cruise Ship The Sea Diamond Strikes Volcanic Reef Rocks, Sinks

The Sea Diamond, a Greek cruise ship, sank competely in the eastern Aegean Sea off the coast of the island of Santorini  on Friday — 15 hours after it struck rocks from a volcano reef and began taking on water on Thursday.

A frenchman (46) and his daughter (16) are reported missing. The 469-foot Sea Diamond was built in 1986, refurbished in 1999 and was operated by Louis Cruise Lines, part of a Cyprus-based tourism group. The Merchant Marine Ministry said 1,195 passengers and 391 crew members were on board.
