A Buffalo Grove police officer watched the driver of a Ninja style motorcycle blow at least two red lights at high speed while heading westbound on Dundee Road near Arlington Heights Road. At first the driver appeared to be willing to stop for a traffic stop by the Buffalo Grove police officer, but then sped away — continuing westbound about 8 a.m. Monday. The Buffalo Grove police car did not pursue the Ninja style motorcycle.

The driver and bike were described as a black Ninja motorcycle without license plate. The driver was wearing white shorts and a black motorcycle helmet.

In the late 1990’s a passenger was killed in a vehicle that turned left in front of a speeding motorcycle in the same stretch of Dundee Road near Dundee Road and Ridge Avenue. The speeding motorcycle crashed right through the passenger compartment of the vehicle, killing the granddaughter of the driver of the car and seriously injuring the motorcycle driver.

A high number of bikers have been involved in crashes in Buffalo Grove this summer. This July a biker tumbled, but got up on his own near Lake Cook Road and Weiland, and walked into Walmart while paramedics looked for the injured biker that 9-1-1 callers reported. Several other bikers have crashed this summer on Lake Cook Road.

On May 17, 2009 Michael Lechner, 23, was killed when an elderly driver pulled out in front of him while he was southbound on his motorcycle on Buffalo Grove Road, just north of Dundee Road. Another biker was struck by a car just north of the accident scene when the driver of car, frustrated with the traffic congestion, made a U-turn and hit the biker. The biker involved in the second crash was not seriously hurt.
