Stopping calcium leak may prevent deadly irregular heartbeat

In “Ryanodine-receptor channel” is a protein called calstabin2, which is supposed to keep the channel closed between heartbeats so calcium can’t leak out.

Experimental new drug, code-named JTV519, works by enhancing the natural protein’s ability to close the channel.

May prevent deadly arrhythmias.
