Niles police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:50 AM Friday October 19, 2018 to a report of a head-on crash near 6839 North Milwaukee Avenue Niles, Il . Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a head-on crash near White Eagle Banquets.

Two people were possibly seriously injured, which required two ambulances to respond to the scene, which was also located near the entrance to St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery.

Engine 3’s crew on arrival reported two vehicles involved in a head-on crash with moderate to severe damage.

The second ambulance was requested by 11:55 a.m. Park Ridge Ambulance 36’s crew was assigned

Niles Battalion Chief 2 requested Tower Ladder 2 for extrication by 12:08 p.m. A “Fifth Door” procedure was required for extrication. A “Fifth Door” procedure involves creating one large opening on the side of a vehicle, often by cutting the “B” post (post between front and rear doors) and then opening both doors as one piece by the front door hinge.

Two patients were transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.

Traffic was blocked in both directions, but was clear by 1:45 p.m.
