SUSPECT IN CUSTODY IN WINNETKA BY 11:05 PM MONDAY
Northfield police responded about 7:19 PM Monday August 13, 2018 to a shooting in the block of 200 Latrobe Avenue Northfield, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a gunshot victim. As of 8:15 p.m. a male suspect was at large, and the suspect was believed to have been in the area on Latrobe Avenue about 7:20 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Firefighter/paramedics staged at a distance from the crime scene until the scene was secured by police about 7:25 p.m. The crime scene is at or near a home on Latrobe Avenue north of Sunset Road.
At 9:24 p.m. Winnetka police posted a Facebook alert that stated, “There is significant police activity on Tower Road between Hibbard and Green Bay. Please avoid the area at this time. If you are in the area, please follow the officers’ instructions.” Tower Road and Green Bay Road is about 2 miles north of the crime scene in Northfield. Initially it was unknown if these two police activity scenes are related, but at 10:50 p.m. Winnetka police announced that the two scenes were connected, and at 11:05 p.m. Winnetka police announced they had one suspect in custody. Tower Road between Hibbard Road and Green Bay Road is mostly residential, except near Green Bay Road which is a retail and commercial section of the Hubbard Woods neighborhood in Winnetka. SWAT activity was captured on news video closer to Green Bay Road.
The shooting is possibly a domestic-related shooting.
