Carjacking Victim Shot on Leland Ave in Uptown, Chicago

Chicago police, firefighters, and paramedics responded about 10:50 AM Sunday to a report of an aggravated vehicular hijacking and shooting in the block of 800 West Leland Avenue Chicago, IL. Police received a report that a 47-year-old man was sitting inside is white, 4-door Hyundai sedan when two males walked up, pulled out a gun and demanded his car.

The victim grabbed for the gun, but was shot in his thigh by one of the offenders. Chicago Fire Department paramedics transported him to Weiss Memorial Hospital less than a block away from the crime scene. The victim was later transferred to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition.

The offenders fled with the victim’s Hyundai. Area North detectives are investigating.
