Pedestrian Lying in Road Hit, Killed Just Beyond Crest of Hill on Main St East of Cary

Cary firefighter/paramedics, Cary police and McHenry County Sheriff’s deputies responded about 8:15 p.m. Friday April 6, 2018 to a report of a vehicle vs.pedestrian incident in the block of 1300 Main Street.

Emergency personnel arrived to find that a 20-year-old man that was dead at the scene after being hit by a gray or silver 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt. The man was hit while he was already lying on the road in eastern McHenry County. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and was transported by the McHenry County Coroner’s office away from the scene.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office stated that a Cary woman was driving a Chevrolet Cobalt westbound on East Main Street in Algonquin Township when she crested a hill and struck the man just beyond the crest of the hill at about 8:15 p.m.

The man’s identity was not initially released.

The 34-year-old female driver was transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital near Barrington with apparent non-life-threatening injuries.

McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
