Illinois State police and New Lenox Fire Protection District firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday January 30, 2018 to Interstate 355 and Interstate 80 to a report of a rollover truck crash.
Rescue crews on arrival discovered the driver of a semi-tractor trailer was ejected and killed Tuesday afternoon after his vehicle rolled over a concrete barrier on the right shoulder of the ramp at Interstate 355 to eastbound I-80 in New Lenox, according to Illinois State Police.
A passenger in the truck was transported to a local hospital with injuries initially believed to be non-life threatening.
The ramp from SB I-355 to eastbound I-80 remained closed to traffic during accident investigation and vehicle recovery as late as 6:30 p.m.
