Group of Five Attack and Rob Law Student at Superior St and Fairbanks Ct, Chicago

Chicago police responded about 8:00 p.m. Sunday October 8, 2017 to a report of an armed robbery that just occurred at at Superior Street and Fairbanks Court.

A Northwestern University law student was approached by three men and two women near the intersection of Superior Street and Fairbanks Court near the Olson Pavilion and the Feinberg School of Medicine. The individuals physically assaulted the student, and took his laptop computer and cellphone.

A witness activated an emergency call box, notified police and then walked the student to nearby Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he received medical treatment.

Northwestern University issued a security alert after the report of the robbery on the Chicago campus. The Northwestern Police Department is located about one block west of the incident location on the first level of a large parking garage.

The suspects fled on foot, and police searched the area, but did not find any of the suspects.

The suspects are described as …

• a male 5’4″ wearing white pants, a white long-sleeved shirt and a dark jacket tied around his neck,

• two men about 5’6″ and wearing dark clothing.

A description of the two females was not available.

The robbery was not listed on the official website for Northwestern University’s University Police Department of Safety and Security as of Tuesday morning October 10, 2017 at 5:00 a.m.

Recently, a Northwestern University female faculty member was the victim of a robbery in the Erie Street parking garage on the Chicago campus. At approximately 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2017, the faculty member was walking on the ninth floor of the garage, 321 East Erie Street, when three offenders pushed the faculty member to the ground and took a cellphone.

The faculty member reported a minor injury to her elbow.

A video camera captured images of the offenders. They are described as: –

A male teenager with short dreadlocks, wearing a long-sleeved, gray T-shirt and dark-colored gym shoes and carrying a dark-colored backpack.

A male teenager wearing a white T-shirt, camouflage pants and gray gym shoes.

A male teenager wearing a long-sleeved black hooded sweatshirt, tan pants and white gym shoes.

Skin color, race, complexion or hair color information was not provided regarding either crime.
