Letter to Lincolnwood residents from Lincolnwood Village President Barry Bass …

Dear Lincolnwood Residents, As you may have already heard the news reports, I would like to update you on the events which occurred yesterday afternoon near the corners of Albion and Drake Avenues. Four individuals allegedly assaulted and robbed a father and his son outside near their residence. Thankfully, neither was injured.

We are grateful to our alert and aggressive Lincolnwood Police Department who not only responded quickly, but apprehended all four alleged perpetrators and took them into custody. We are also grateful to the residents that called 9-1-1, and residents that may have followed and observed the alleged suspects to help Police locate them.

This was a dangerous and horrific situation. Unfortunately, many of our surrounding communities are encountering an uptick in this type of activity which has seeped over the borders from Chicago and other areas into Lincolnwood.

I can assure you with the cooperation and dedication of our fine men and women in blue, myself and the Board of Trustees, along with our staff, are dedicated to making safety our first priority. I have been on the front lines, proactive and very vocal about public safety. I was also a victim of an armed assault last February, in front of my home, ironically within two blocks of this recent incident. No one should ever have to experience a situation like this.

We hope the message resonates with those who try to come into our Village to commit ill will. We want to remind everyone to be aware of their surroundings and call 9-1-1. The Police are here and available to discuss any issues related to safety concerns. Our best defense in stopping crime is vigilance and heightened Police visibility.

Once again, I commend our police officers and thank them for being on the front lines in an effort to keep us all safe.

Sincerely,

Barry Bass
Village President
