Serious Metra Train Crash with Vehicle at Plum Tree Rd/Kelsey Rd and Northwest Highway — All Metra Trains Halted in Area

Lake County Sheriff’s deputies and Barrington/Countryside firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:28 PM Wednesday September 27, 2017 to a report of a car vs Metra train crash at Kelsey Road and Plum Tree Road Lake Barrington, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics on arrival reported a car crash with a Metra train with the personal car torn in half. Kelsey Road and Plum Tree Road intersect Northwest Highway between Cuba Road and Route 22, just east of Fox River Grove

The wrecked personal vehicle was a 4-door sedan, and was located north of the intersection after the crash. One occupant, the driver, was in the vehicle, and was suffering life-threatening injuries. There is no confirmation whether any passenger on board the train were injured.

Two additional ambulances dispatched at 7:39 p.m. At least four total ambulances were on the scene.

Metra Train #653 scheduled departure from Chicago OTC was 6:25 p.m. and had a scheduled stop in downtown Arlington Heights at 7:00 p.m.
