Motorcyclist Dies After Crash at Route 53 and Algonquin Rd, Near Rolling Meadows

Chris Monsen, 27, of Buffalo Grove died 11:00 a.m. Sunday June 11, 2017 at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge from complications of multiple injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash near Route 53 and Algonquin Road on June 1, 2017

Illinois State police and Rolling Meadows firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:30 p.m. June 1, 2017 to a report of a motorcycle crash involving Monsen. He was driving his motorcycle on the entrance ramp to northbound Route 53 from Algonquin Road when he crossed lanes of traffic and crashed into a concrete barrier dividing express and local lanes.

Family members set up a GoFundMe account to help Chris Monsen’s 22-month-old son Elliot and to pay for medical bills.

Chris Monsen worked as a combat engineer with the Eighth Engineer Support Battalion, serving a Marine corporal in Afghanistan.
