Three Questioned After Two Chicago Police Officers Shot In Back Of The Yards at 43rd St and Ashland Ave, Chicago

A massive manhunt was underway, and police were questioning three people, after two officers were wounded in a shootout in the Back of the Yards neighborhood Tuesday night. CBS 2’s Sandra Torres and Mike Puccinelli report.

Active crime scene remains near an industrial area at 43rd Street and Ashland Avenue where two police officers were ambushed and shot. Both Chicago police officers are recovering at Stroger Cook County Hospital.

A minivan and a Chevy Trailblazer, believed to be the suspect’s vehicles, have been recovered nearby.

The tactical police officers were sitting in an all black Ford van, which had about 23 bullet-related holes in the windshield and at least 10 bullet holes on the driver’s side of the van.

Three persons of interest are in custody and charges may be announced this afternoon.
