Teen Shot in Chelsea Cove; Police Say Red Toyota Corolla Used By Shooter Found Abandoned in Prospect Heights

Wheeling police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:28 PM Thursday to a report of a teen shot in Chelsea Cove, 816 Chelsea Drive Wheeling, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received multiple calls of shots fired and then a report of a person shot.

Police reported the victim was a 16-year-old male.

Witness reported multiple shots were fired.

Firefighter/paramedics were staging for a short time nearby. Police reported the scene secure by 6:31 p.m.

On arrival police and firefighter/paramedics discovered a man down in the grass with a gunshot wound to the back.

The patient was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, accompanied by police.

Police are searching for a red 2000 Toyota Corolla 4-door with license plate starting with ZZ.

Two suspects are wanted for aggravated battery with a firearm:

Suspect #1: Driver, male/Hispanic, late teens – early 20s, with long curly hair.

Suspect #2: Male/Hispanic, late teens – early 20s, wearing a white T-shirt.

The red 2000 4-door Toyota Corolla was last seen eastbound on Lake Cook Road from McHenry Road. Wheeling Police say the vehicle was found abandoned in Prospect Heights, but aren’t releasing the specific location because they say the shooting remains under investigation, and the suspects haven’t been found.
