Lake Zurich police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:40 a.m. Thursday to an emergency childbirth call. Mom, new baby girl, and dad at their side, are reported to be doing well.

Lake Zurich Fire Chief John Malcolm told the Daily Herald that two ambulances, each with three crew members aboard, and a shift commander were dispatched to a house to make sure the baby delivery went smoothly. One crew handled the delivery and took care of the newborn girl, while the other crew transported the mother in an ambulance to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Lake Barrington.
