Evanston Police: Man Tried to Abduct 16-Yr-Old Girl on Howard St Between Ridge Blvd and Western Ave

Evanston police responded to a report of an attempted abduction of a 16-year-old girl about 9:45 p.m. Thursday January 5, 2016 in the 1500-block of Howard Street.

The girl was approached by the suspect as she was walking home. He attempted to cover her face with a white rag or towel but the victim was able to escape and flee on foot, according to police.

The offender was last seen walking northbound through a parking lot in the 1300 block of Howard Street in Evanston.

The offender is described as a white male in his 50s, short and weighing about 130 pounds. He was wearing a brown hat and brown vest.

The victim was not injured.
