The underlying slush had not frozen hard as of 5:00 a.m. Monday, but temperatures are dropping and snow will be more difficult to shovel as Monday progresses. The air temperature was about 32°F at midnight and was 26°F at 5:00 a.m. Monday. Air temperatures are expected to fall to about 20°F by 8:00 a.m. and hold in the lower 20s until about 10:00 p.m. Monday/Tuesday overnight will be in the teens and the forecasted high for Tuesday is 17°F with no additional snow forecast until Friday.

IDOT had 300 plows out over the weekend and kept up with the medium-heavy snowstorm. Arlington Heights Public Works plows also kept up with the snowfall. They had the “beet juice” tracks down early had most streets cleared by sunrise Monday.
