The Cubs-Cardinals game that had been scheduled on April 3, 2017 has been moved to April 2, 2017 in order to have the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals open the 2017 Major League Baseball season before a prime-time television audience.

The two Central Division rivals will open the season at Busch Stadium 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2017 in St. Louis. That’s only 136 days away.

The Cubs-Cardinal game will be broadcast by ESPN, MLB officials announced.

The teams will have a day off on April 3, 2017, and resume their series on April 4 (7:15 p.m.) and April 5 (12:45 p.m.) at Busch Stadium.

Following a weekend series at Milwaukee Brewers’ Miller Park, the Cubs will return to Wrigley Field for their home opener on Monday, April 10, against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
