Schaumburg Police responded at 4:39 p.m. Tuesday August 25, 2016 to the 1300 block on East Algonquin Road for a reported Battery and Criminal Sexual Assault of a female by a male offender. The alleged offense was reported to have taken place at an unknown address on Creek Bend Road. There were two separate 911 calls. The first 911 call was from a third party not involved with the alleged incident, and the second 911 call was from the female involved. Police officers were given the description of both the victim and offender, and began checking the area.

Police officers met with the female reporting the incident. The female, Pennsylvania resident Lauren Ryan, age 20, informed officers she was the victim of a Battery and Sexual Assault by a male subject she identified as Lashuan Cooper, age 33. Officers located Cooper inside a nearby restaurant on Algonquin Road. Cooper fled the area when officers began speaking with him. Officers from several jurisdictions assisted in the search and apprehension of Cooper. Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Illinois State Police, Cook County Sheriff’s Police and Cook County Forest Preserve Police all assisted with the search. A police helicopter was also involved in the search. Cooper was located within the police perimeter near a pond with tall grass, south of Algonquin Road between Roselle Road and Palmer Drive at about 7:30 p.m.

In the course of the investigation it was learned that Lauren’s original report of Battery and Criminal Sexual Assault were falsely reported to the police. The two had known each other a month, police said. Ryan was charged with Disorderly Conduct and False Report of Offense — a class 4 felony. She was taken to Rolling Meadow’s Court for bond hearing Thursday and was released on a $10,000 recognizance bond. She is scheduled to appear in court again on Sept. 15.

Cooper was charged with a Municipal charge of Trespass for being on the property of the 2500 block of Brush Road. Cooper was released from the Schaumburg Police Department with the citation.
