Mom Pulls Mountain Lion off 5-Year-Old Son in Pitkin County Northwest of Aspen, Colorado

A 5-year-old boy is recovering in a Denver hospital after being attacked by a mountain lion, officials said.

The mother of a 5-year-old boy pulled a mountain lion off her son in Pitkin County northwest of Aspen, Colorado. There have been between 1890 and 2011 there have been 20 fatal attacks involving mountain lions. Fourteen of the victims were under the age of 14, according Lorne Sulcas, “Big Cat Guy” Wildlife expert. Big cats have a propensity for the young, small or weak. Among the 14 attacks on children, there were no children present.
