Chicago police, firefighters, and paramedics responded about 1:40 AM Sunday to a report of two pedestrians hit by a car at Lake Shore Drive and Ohio Street Chicago, IL. Police received a report that a man and a woman were approached by a group of armed robbers, and were trying to flee from the robbers when they were hit by a white pickup truck.
The man and woman hit by the pickup truck were transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where the woman was pronounced dead. She was identified as Pamela Johnson, age 32. The man, age 43, was listed in stable condition.
At least one person in the armed robbery group displayed a firearm to the couple, Chicago police said.
The man and the woman were hit by the white pickup truck in the southbound lanes of Lake Shore Drive.
The location of the attempted armed robbery and fatal vehicle vs pedestrian incident was about 1300 feet northwest of the front entrance to Navy Pier.
