VIDEO: Explosion After Freight Train Crashes with Propane Tanker Truck Near Callaway, Minnesota

WDAY VIDEO: A fireball lit up the night sky over Callaway, Minnesota, hours after a freight train collided with a propane truck and derailed. Authorities were letting the propane truck burn itself out.

Becker County officials evacuated the city of Callaway, Minn. after a collision between a train and 9,000 gallon semi-tanker truck carrying propane Thursday afternoon. The collision resulted in a fire and explosion. The fire continued to burn as the propane was vented and burned off.

Two train crew members received non-life threatening injuries in the crash, and were transported to Essentia Hospital in Detroit Lakes.

Several train cars also derailed in the crash. Fifteen fire departments responded to manage the fire and crash site hazards. None of the railcars were carrying any hazardous materials.

Highway 59 in Callaway was closed and traffic was detoured on county roads 14, 21 and 26.
