Oscar-Winning Actress Patty Duke Dies at 69 in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho

Actress Patty Duke, who was the youngest Academy Award winner ever, has died at 69. She’s best known for her role as Helen Keller in the 1962 film “The Miracle Worker.” CBSN’s Jamie Yuccas and Meg Oliver have more details.

Patty Duke has died Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at a hospital in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho from sepsis from a ruptured intestine. She had lived in Idaho for the last 25 years with her fourth husband Michael Pearce.

Patty Duke won an Oscar playing Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker (1962) autobiography of Helen Keller, and later played “identical cousins” Cathy Lane and Patty Lane in her own TV sitcom (1963-1966), The Patty Duke Show.
