Man Scammed Out of $200 by Man on the Phone Pretending to Be Sheriff’s Police Deputy

Mount Prospect police received a report that a Mount Prospect resident was scammed out of $200 about 1:00 p.m. January 27, 2016.

The male victim received a phone call from a man pretending to be from the sheriff’s police. The offender threatened to garnish wages and suspend the victim’s driver’s license unless he provided his credit card number and paid a credit card debt.

The victim provided the man with his credit card information and was charged a $200 payment.
