One Dead, 8 Arrested in Armed Occupation of Federal Wildlife Refuge in Oregon

Police says Lavoy Finicum, a member of the group occupying federal land in Oregon, disobeyed their orders to surrender, but one man tied to the group says Finicum was “shot in cold blood.” CNN’s Dan Simon reports.

CNN’s Sara Sidner reports on the the armed occupation of a federal wildlife refuge in Oregon and a fatal confrontation nearby.

Authorities say the armed group occupying the national wildlife preserve in Oregon was given “ample opportunity” to leave peacefully.

As authorities urged a handful of anti-government militia members remaining at an Oregon wildlife refuge to abandon the site, residents of the region expressed concern with how Tuesday’s arrests and the death of a member played out.
