Belgorod: Russian Doctor Investigated After Security Video Captures Fatal Punch of Patient

#ad▼

A Belgorod Hospital security video captured an encounter involving a doctor and a patient, a fatal punch by the doctor, and attempts to revive the patient with CPR (See VIDEO).

The doctor enters an examination room and accuses a shirtless patient of touching his nurse or female medical provider. The nurse stands at the doctor’s side and points at the man, whose breath sounds were being assessed by another female medical provider. The shirtless patient was pulled up by the arm by the doctor and dragged to another room. Then the doctor begins punching a man that accompanied the shirtless patient. The shirtless patient returns to the room in a non-threatening manner, but is punched by a glancing blow on the left side of his neck and jaw — possibly impacting a forceful blow to the carotid artery. The shirtless patient collapses to the floor, and never regains consciousness while the doctor continues to fight with the other man.

After several minutes pass, the medical personnel and the doctor realize that the shirtless patient is still unconscious. The man who accompanied the shirtless patient slaps his face to revive him. At first a woman keeps the assaulting doctor away from the patient, but then he approaches the patient and begins CPR.

The female practitioner, who pointed out the now unconscious patient, cries in the background.

The Investigative Committee of Russia, the main federal investigating authority in Russia, and Russia’s Health Ministry are investigating the crime while a criminal case has started against the doctor, who was also dismissed from his job.

Belgorod (population 356,402 in 2010) is located near the western border of Russia near Ukraine.
