Austrian police and firefighters responded to check for the well-being of an American Au Pair when her employer reported she failed to show up for work.

After forcibly entering the 25-year-old Colorado woman’s Vienna apartment, her body was found on a mattress by Vienna police and firefighters. She was found half-naked, and a considerable amount of blood was found in the apartment, but no external injuries were immediately visible. A toxicology test was ordered to determine whether she was poisoned.
The cause of her death is under investigation as a homicide. An autopsy was scheduled.
The U.S. Embassy identified the woman as Lauren Mann.
