Wheeling police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:00 PM Saturday to a backup call for a Buffalo Grove police officer at Walmart, 1455 East Lake Cook Road Wheeling, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a Buffalo Grove police officer was out with medical emergency — possibly a psychiatric emergency — at a driveway off of Lake Cook Road near Walmart.
Initially one ambulance responded to the scene for a male patient described as out of control.
A second ambulance was requested for an injured police officer at about 3:16 p.m. The extent of the injuries involving the police were unknown, but there were no communications that indicated the injuries were immediately life threatening.
Both ambulances transported to a local hospital.
