YouTube Red is a paid subscription service without ads offered by the video-sharing website YouTube. Ad-free streaming of videos are available hosted by the site or offline. Audio can play in the background during playback of videos on mobile devices.
YouTube Red includes access to new original content, and access to ad-free music streaming through the Google Play Music service. YouTube Red was officially launched in the United States on October 28, 2015.
YouTube Red offers ad-free background music to stay competitive with Apple Music, Rdio, Pandora, Slacker and Spotify. YouTube Red also offers other performances ad-free, such as live performances on late night talk shows.
YouTube has grown into the world’s biggest and most influential video platform. Today it introduces a monthly subscription service that will fundamentally change the way users and creators interact with YouTube.
