Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:51 AM Friday to a report of a construction worker shocked or burned on a road construction site at Rand Road and Wilke Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a construction worker was digging and hit an electrical line.

Apparently a construction worker that was digging with a shovel near curbing forms for concrete work hit a shallow electric line.

A witness who was changing a tire across the street said that he saw three large electrical type explosion that knocked three workers down. He said he thought that one of the works was hurt, but that he was up an walking around.

One worker was transported to Northwest Community Hospital to be checked for flash burns and/or electric shock. A wood form frame for the concrete curb was charred from the electrical incident.

ComEd had work sites near the scene, but were not on the scene when the incident occurred. Construction engineers also immediately responded to the scene.

US 12 (Rand Road) is undergoing a resurfacing project this summer.
