Arlington Heights Hydrant Flushing Program — April 27 through May 8 with Map Zones

#ad▼

The Village of Arlington Heights will begin hydrant flushing on Monday, April 27, at 12:01 a.m. and continues 24 hours a day for approximately 10 days. There will be no hydrant flushing on Saturday or Sunday. If necessary, hydrant flushing may be extended until May 8.

Various neighborhoods in the Village will be affected on different days by hydrant flushing operations. When hydrants are flushed in your area, please test the cold water before all clothes and fabric washing. If any discoloration is observed, stop using all water until the discolored cold water clears, which is usually within one or two hours.

Most communities flush hydrants to remove sediment to maintain quality and good flow of water in distribution pipes and to maintain clarity of water. While flushing, staff also inspect that there is adequate and pressure at the hydrant, which is essential for quick extinguishment of fires.
