The report from a woman that she was stabbed while jogging in the Deer Grove Forest Preserve is apparently false, according to Cook County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Sophia Ansari.

Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded to a report of a stabbing about 4:13 p.m. Saturday. A 33-year-old woman said she was stabbed in the abdomen while jogging November 29, 2014 on a trail in the Deer Grove East forest preserve near Palatine.

She described a male attacker that was Hispanic, 5 foot 7 inches tall, bald and with a medium build, and wearing two earrings in his right ear.

But officials said Tuesday, “It appears the story was fabricated.”

Ansari confirmed there was a stab wound, but that it did not appear there was another person involved in the incident.

In an email, Ansari said, “We are evaluating what if any action we will take in response.”
