Elk Grove Village police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:03 PM Monday to a report of a car – motorcycle crash on Higgins Road west of the intersection of Higgins Road and Arlington Heights Road Elk Grove Village, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a motorcyclist was unconscious at the scene near the pedestrian/bicycle bridge. Police arrived on the scene first and reported that the motorcyclist was unconscious and not breathing.

Firefighter/paramedics transported the male patient to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

Higgins Road is blocked between Arlington Heights Road and Route 53/I-290 with some traffic stranded on Higgins Road — especially eastbound traffic.

Cook County Sheriff’s Police are working an extended accident investigation at the scene. Observation of the crash scene showed that a commercial work van and a motorcycle crashed near the drive to South Busse Woods and Higgins Road, just west of Arlington Heights Road. The motorcycle was down in the right lane (curb lane) of eastbound Higgins Road near the west side of the South Busse Woods drive. During the accident investigation by Cook County Sheriff’s Deputies, a commercial work van was located in an eastbound direction, just to the right of the eastbound right lane, and just east and just south of the downed motorcycle (approximately blocking access to and from the South Busse Drive intersection with Higgins Road).

A witness reported “all lanes open as of 11:45 p.m.”
