Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:10 AM Thursday to Woodfield Mall 3 Woodfield Mall Schaumburg, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of the smell of smoke and smoke seen near the first floor hair salon at JCPenny.

Firefighters investigated and discovered that construction with a soldering operation was safely ongoing at an adjacent area to JCPenny.

Apparently no ventilation was required, and firefighters reported the area was safe. Firefighters left the scene about 9:40 a.m.
