Hoffman Estates resident Charles Poremba, age 56, has been charged with impersonating a police officer after he approached a woman with a plastic “deputy sheriff” badge while the woman was in a Walgreens drive-thru ahead of his vehicle. Poremba allegedly told the woman to get out of the line and pick up her prescription inside the store. He also told her she should “watch out.” The incident is reported to have occurred on Wednesday at 8:15 p.m.

A Cook County judge set Poremba’s bail at $10,000 Thursday. Poremba’s next court date is April 30.

Prosecutors say Poremba has no criminal background. If convicted of the class 4 felony, he faces one to three years in prison, and could be eligible for probation.
