Some say it’s too soon after the Boston Marathon bombing, but Chicago producers have not held back with a hard-hitting part one of a two-part crossover television event with CHICAGO PD. On Tuesday night’s episode of CHICAGO FIRE, Lt. Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Dawson (Monica Raymund) volunteer to help at a cancer charity run at a Chicago hospital “Chicago Medical” when a massive explosion — possibly a car bomb at the Emergency Department entrance — causes a multi-casualty incident response for Chicago firefighters and police officers. One of firefighters is missing inside the bombed hospital.

Tonight is the conclusion of the crossover event with CHICAGO P.D. — spin-off to CHICAGO FIRE with both television series created and executive produced by Dick Wolf, Derek Haas, Michael Brandt, and Matt Olmstead. No spoilers here, but the full April 29 episode is here …
