Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:57 PM Wednesday to a townhouse fire at 781Whalom Lane Schaumburg, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a passerby saw that a vehicle was on fire in a garage.

Firefighters arrived within about four minutes and reported a two-story townhouse with flames showing out the attached garage. Battalion Chief Rick Anderson immediately ordered a working fire response (Code 4) at about 7:01 p.m. and then a Box Alarm for extra mutual aid firefighters at about 7:26 p.m.

Firefighters checked for extension of the fire from the garage to the living area, and discovered that the fire had already spread to a kitchen, utility room, second floor and attic.

While firefighters initially knocked down the fire in the garage, other firefighters searched for any possible victims, and then advanced an interior attack in the living area of the townhouse. The fire was out by about 7:34 p.m.

No injuries reported. Residents in two units in the building were displaced. The fire is under investigation.

Tuesday night a vehicle was discovered burning in an attached garage in a single family home on Glen Lane, just north of Hoffman Estates High School. The fire caused heavy damage to the home.
