Franklin Park Man Charged with Cyberstalking and Threatening a Public Official — Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart

A Franklin Park man has been charged with threatening a public official and cyber stalking following six months of threatening emails to Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart. Steven Cleary, age 49, was arrested on the afternoon of Friday, November 8. Both charges are Class 3 felonies.

Cleary is in custody after sending death threats via email to Sheriff Dart, beginning in early May. Cleary’s correspondence in recent days included specific threats to Sheriff Dart’s life.
Cleary was scheduled to appear for a bond hearing Saturday, November 9, 2013.

The public is reminded that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government in a court of law.
