Fake Job Scam Alert: Internet Fraud Attempt Via Craigslist

#ad▼

A female (age 22) who lives in apartment in the 2100 block of South Tonne Drive, responded to a classified ad on Craigslist for a personal assistant position. She sent her resume which contained personal information to “David Wilson” who requested all correspondence be done by email because he was hearing impaired. She was told she would be receiving a check in the mail which she was supposed to deposit, removed her weekly pay and send the remainder to a charity he supports. She deposited the check and had second thoughts about the arrangement. She realized it was probably a scam so she contacted her bank to stop the transaction. The female did not lose any funds.

The crime is reported to have occurred on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 10:46am.
