Mother, Daughter Found Strangled in Burning Car Near Cap Sauers Holdings Nature Preserve, Palos Park

Cook County Sheriff’s Police are conducting a homicide investigation after two bodies were found in a burning vehicle Saturday night near the Cap Sauers Holdings Nature Preserve northwest of Orland Park in western Palos Park. Investigators also found that the victims were strangled. The woodlands and wetlands is considered the most isolated area in Cook County with 1,520 acres.

Approximately 11:45 p.m. Saturday, a passerby reported the fire of a Chrysler PT Cruiser located near Wolf and Ford roads. After firefighters put out the fire, a woman in her 70s and a woman in her 50s were found deceased in the back of the vehicle.

The women are from Chicago and are mother and daughter. Their identities are not being released at this time. The vehicle and the bodies were transported to the medical office for investigation.

Immediately after the discovery of the bodies, police searched the area with a helicopter and dogs. The investigation is ongoing.
