CNN: An expectant mother was struck by lightning and then gave birth to a healthy baby girl.

A pregnant New Mexico woman, Kendra Villanueva, has survived a bolt from the blue to give birth to a bouncing baby girl. Kendra Villanueva and the baby’s father Ian Gordon were watching fireworks with friends on Fourth of July when they decided to go inside because a storm was getting too close. As the couple headed for safety, lightning struck both of them in the front yard of an Albuquerque home.

Villanueva was just weeks from her due date. She was transported to University of New Mexico Medical Center, where she had an emergency Cesarean section, and named her healthy baby Kimberly Samantha Rose Gordon (“little Flash Gordon”). Mother, father and baby survived the lightning strike with no serious injuries.
