Fatal Truck Crash Near US 30 and I-394, Buckling on SB Route 59 at I-90 Reported

Extended heat could cause buckling on highways, roadways and interstates in the upcoming days. The only report as of 5:15 p.m. Wednesday is Route 59 southbound at Interstate 90. Lane 1 (easternmost lane) is blocked by police. The remaining lanes are passable.

A fatal crash occurred when a 1994 Kenworth semi on eastbound US 30 crashed through a ravine and into a chain link fence near the I-394 northbound ramp. A 58-year-old male truck driver from Park Forest was found dead in the cab.

The only other trouble reported as of 6:30 p.m. was a car fire in the southbound lanes of I-355 near St. Charles Road at MP 26.8. All lanes were open.
