House Fire on West Poplar Street, Palatine

Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:00 PM Friday to a report of a house fire at 875 West Poplar Street Palatine, IL. The resident reported that the fire was in the crawlspace of the home. First arriving crews found heavy smoke coming from the first floor and roof. Crews worked quickly to open interior walls and ceiling, gaining access to the fire for extinguishment. The living space of the home did sustain fire, smoke, and water damage. The home has been deemed uninhabitable.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Palatine Fire Department. Damage is estimated at $50,000. No injuries were reported.

The Palatine Fire Department reminds all homeowners to have working smoke detectors and have an escape plan in case of a fire.
